This course is specifically designed for newly appointed, junior, and tenure-track professors and supports them in their roles as researchers and leaders of research groups. It provides in-depth knowledge of research ethics and offers an opportunity to reflect on one’s own values, attitudes, and responsibilities - particularly in the tension between academic excellence, leadership responsibilities, and the supervision of theses and dissertations.
The content and scope of the training program are guided by the DFG Memorandum as well as the respective institutional guidelines for ensuring Good Scientific Practice (GSP), and are based on the 2019 revised recommendations of the curriculum for courses on “Good Scientific Practice,” which was developed on behalf of and in collaboration with the Ombudsman for Science. The course provides a step-by-step introduction to key topics and combines theoretical foundations with practical exercises, case studies, and work with GWP/GSP resources to facilitate a practical and application-oriented approach.
